128.5ac of Galway land comes up for auction in two weeks’ time. The holding is in the south of the county in the Woodford area and is being brought to the market jointly by Brian Tuohy Auctioneering and Martin Tyrrell Auctioneers.

The land is being offered in three parcels, two of which are adjoining and one smaller lot a distance away.

Lot 1 will be the entire 128.5ac holding. Lot 2 will be 75ac at Douras, Woodford, and this is, in the main, the auctioneers say, excellent-quality land.

Currently under grass, it has been used for tillage in the past and is suitable for any farming purpose. This plot has extensive frontage on to Lough Derg, which may offer opportunities for alternative sources of income. Access is via a right of way.

Potential purchasers should be aware that there are four lakeside sites and a dwelling house, each with right of way access through the property, that are not included in the sale.

Lot 3 is also at Douras, Woodford, adjoining Lot 2, and it measures 45ac. This block includes 15ac of excellent land and 30ac of land of a poorer nature suitable for grazing. This lot offers additional road access to the larger Lot 2.

Lot 4 is in three separate parcels.

Lot 4 is on the other side of Woodford, at Knockauncarragh. It includes 8.5ac of rough grazing land – in three separate parcels which are close together – and also a 1/33rd undivided share in a local 455ac mountain commonage, amounting to 14ac per share. The 8.5ac carries hen harrier designation.

The auctioneers are guiding the entire at €800,000 and say that there have been a number of expressions of interest already. The auction will be held at Portumna Mart on Friday 18 September at 3pm.
