Following the close of nominations last week, Macra’s presidential and vice-presidential elections are under way.

Every two years, Macra clubs elect a new national president and three vice-presidents.

The candidates for national president are:

  • Eamon Cassells, Gillstown, Athboy, Co Meath.
  • Paddy Delaney, Cremorgan, Timahoe, Portlaoise.
  • Séan Finan, Ballinlough, Castlerea, Co Rosommon.
  • Michelle O’Callaghan, Shanballyrea, Knockraha, Co Cork.
  • The candidates for Leinster vice-president are:

  • Noel Duffy, Athlone road, Ferbane, Co Offaly.
  • Odile Evans, Plattenstown, Arklow, Co Wicklow.
  • Aoife Lanigan, Rosemount, Newpark Drive, Co Kilkenny.
  • Gerard Griffin, Barnahown, Araglen, Fermoy, Co Cork, is running for Munster vice-president.

    The candidates for northwest vice-president are:

  • Ray Gilmartin, Corlough, Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim.
  • Caroline O’Dowd, Gurteen, Ballymote, Co Sligo.
  • Each candidate is profiled in the Macra na Feirme election booklet, which is available for download on www.macra.ie.

    The election will take place in the Irish Farm Centre, Dublin, on 7 April and the elected candidates will take up office at the Macra AGM on 9 May. The deadline for ballots is 1pm on 7 April. Find out more about hustings on macra.ie.
