Joint agents Savills and David O’Connell Auctioneers successfully sold an 88ac grazing and tillage farm at Srah, Rathdowney, Co Laois.

A single bid of €700,000 was made at the auction. After negotiations with the bidder, the farm was sold at well in excess of the €800,000 guide and contracts exchanged. The buyer is believed to be a neighbouring farmer, Savills auctioneer Pat O’Hagan said.

Hennessy Auctioneers sold c25ac at Ballinakill, Co Laois. The land was down a cul de sac and accessed via a right of way. The area has sand deposits.

There were five registered bidders, most from the locality. After early bidding on lots, the entire went on the market at €480,000 and sold at €585,000 to an auctioneer acting on behalf of a client. The price works out at €23,400/ac.

Westmeath

Coonan Property sold a 458ac farm at Rostalla, Kilbeggan, Co Westmeath.

It was clear that the main interest in the room was in the entire rather than lots and it opened at €4.2m.

Two bidders then brought the price to €4.5m. The property was withdrawn but after brief negotiations was sold in trust at a substantially higher figure.

Murtagh Bros sold 15ac at Dysart village for €256,000, 32ac at Rathcore for €465,000 and 29.5ac at Rathconnell for €340,000.

Roscommon

Connaughton Auctioneers sold a farm at Kileenboy, Co Roscommon, in lots. A cottage on 1.7ac made €128,000; 9.1ac made €79,000; 8.2ac made €70,000 and 4ac made €20,000.

Desmond Wynne sold 27.6ac at Cloonmeone Lower, Co Leitrim, for €179,000.

Waterford

Brian Gleeson sold 53ac at Ballysaggart Beg, Co Waterford, for €1.25m.

Cavan

Eamonn Gaffney sold a 30ac residential farm at Ballinagh, Co Cavan, for €240,000.
