Over 30 small businesses will have a presence at the National Ploughing Championship as part of the Local Enterprise Village.

Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation Heather Humphreys said the stand will provide a snapshot of the “cream of the crop of Ireland’s small businesses”.

Each of the small businesses to feature are a client of one of the 31 Local Enterprise Offices across the country.

The products and services on show at the Ploughing will include food, fashion, agtech products, farm safety equipment, board games, sportswear, and skincare. A chance to exhibit at the event would not be financially viable for most small businesses outside the umbrella of the Local Enterprise Offices.

Kieran Comerford from the Local Enterprise Offices said: “You are looking at a potential footfall for these businesses of over 250,000 people across the three days of the Ploughing Championships. That is simply incredible for them, to be given that size of a captive audience to sell to, does not happen to small businesses like this.”

Some of the businesses that will be exhibiting include:

  • Bó Rua Farm, Cork – Produce a range of award-winning cheese using milk from their own herd of cows.
  • Hyde Whiskey, Cork – Produce premium Irish whiskey hand-crafted in very small limited-edition batches.
  • Orwell & Browne, Donegal – Irish-made Donegal tweed bow ties, pocket squares, cufflinks, scarves, throws, bags and coasters.
  • Little Red Design Studio, Dublin City – An educational technology company which has developed an interactive AR farm safety play book for children.
  • Adaptive Design, Kildare – Design custom electronics for agri-food producers including a “leaf controller” to enhance all year growth efficiency.
  • Envirico, Kilkenny – Invasive species consultancy that specialises in surveying and site remediation services.
  • Mackessy Technology / AUXION, Limerick – Providing agri/automotive management systems including Auxion a technology platform and process to add efficiencies to agri/motor insurance claims.
  • Next Generation Farm Safety, Longford - Bring a farm safety programme to primary schools and local communities across the country.
