Chairman of AFBP Michael Cronin addressing the Agri Food conference in Dublin
ADVERTISEMENT
I see that the company behind the successful agri food conference held in Dublin in January, Agri Food Business Partners (AFBP) has teamed up with Danske to help quicken the bank’s exit from the Irish market. Danske are in the process of closing current accounts across the country. They have enlisted AFBP to help with its review of business accounts in the North. The group is working as an intermediary between Danske and businesses, examining whether debts can be paid off or if the loan book will have to be sold on to another lending institution. Separately, I understand that AFBP, which is chaired by Michael Cronin formerly of Newmarket Co-operative Creameries and current Bord Bia board member, has gathered a large-scale fund to help attract agri food companies to invest in Ireland although, from what I understand, they have had limited success so far.
