Tirlán’s proposed development of whey processing facilities at its Ballyragget site in Co Kilkenny has been approved by county council planners.
A spokesperson for Tirlán said: “The development is under active consideration with a view to progressing” while adding that no final decision to proceed with the investment has been made.
The development would expand both the production capacity and the range of whey products which could be produced by Tirlán.

While no final figure on the cost is available at this stage, the spokesperson confirmed that it could “potentially be in the region of €100m”.
