New Moon for Gerry Guthrie

Gerry Guthrie has given an old song a brand new makeover. The Mayo man has resurrected New Moon Over My Shoulder – a favourite from years back – and released it as his new single.

The song was a chart-topper for the legendary Jim Reeves, whose smooth baritone vocals brought magic to the song in the 1960s. Tex Ritter had the first success with this song back in 1944.

The song will be included on Gerry’s forthcoming album, which will be released during the summer.

Louise to

host her own show

on Sky 389

Tipperary songstress Louise Morrissey will make her debut in May as host of her own new show on the Keep It Country channel on Sky 389 and Freesat 516.

Louise has recorded 12 30-minute shows in the Minella Hotel in Clonmel. The series will feature chats with and a song or two from some of Ireland’s top artists, as well as some of their latest video releases.

“The Keep It Country Channel, pioneered by Phil Mack, gives country music a complete platform and people know what to expect when they tune into this channel. I am looking forward to the venture and I hope viewers will enjoy it too,” says Louise.

Michael English is on a roll

Take Me Home is the brand new single from Michael English. The Kildare man says he believes the song is his best composition to date and he is thrilled with the outcome. It was produced by Jonathan Owens in Granard.

Michael and his band are attracting major crowds to all their shows and a busy summer season of dances and high-profile concerts lies ahead, including Hooley at Westport House on 12 June.
