Aurivo co-op has announced a price increase of 0.5c/l for milk supplied in May, meaning that farmers will receive 28.94c/l excluding VAT.

However, the co-op also stated that its seasonality payment of 0.5c/l does not apply from April, which means that its overall milk price will remain the same.

A spokesperson stated that the board decided on the increase based on improving market sentiment, in particular for higher returns on butter.

The announcement follows on from Kerry Group earlier today, who announced an increase of 1c/l to 29.41c/l excluding VAT.

Lakelands and Glanbia

Lakeland and Glanbia cut milk price this week by 1.5c/l and 1c/l respectively.

In the North, Lakelands held its price at 26.5p/l.

As previously reported in the Irish Farmers Journal, this week’s cut in May milk price will take €1,050 off the May milk cheque for the average farmer milking 100 cows and producing about 5,000l per cow.
