AXA Insurance is to offer insurance to Irish farmers for the first time.
The insurer this week launched a range of products targeted at farmers, which AXA says will be available across the country through branches, farm advisers, brokers and online.
The insurer said it will provide different offerings to farmers depending on the size of the farm.

The initial range of products AXA will offer includes property cover for homes and farm buildings, agriculture vehicles, income protection, and employers and public liability insurance. Cover will also be offered for livestock, crops, milk and forestry.
“The lack of competition in this market has meant a lack of innovation and value for farmers. We have completed in-depth research to understand what farmers want and we have built the AXA products to meet those needs,” said Christy Doherty, head of farm at AXA Insurance.
