The Bannow and Rathangan Show at Killag, Duncormick, in south Wexford has been cancelled for a second year due to the COVID-19.

The organisers have confirmed that due to the continuing restrictions, they have made the decision to call off this year’s show.

“The wellbeing and safety of all our exhibitors, sponsors, visitors, organisers and all those involved with the running of the show are of paramount importance,” a spokesperson said.

“As you all are aware, with restrictions until May or June at least, we had to make a call in the best interest of everyone involved.

“We are optimistic and hopeful that will be able to host a show in 2022 and that you will all be back to support us. We thank you all for your support in the past and we look forward to seeing everyone in 2022.”

The show which would have been the 71st annual event was due to take place in July.

This is the fifth time in its history that it has been cancelled; twice due to the pandemic, once because of a foot-and-mouth disease outbreak, and twice due to flooding of the site caused by heavy rain.
