Feedlot activity continues to be strong at marts across the country, with Northern wholesaler finisher demand visible at some special sales also. Heavy rain over the weekend may have dampened the trade in some areas but only slightly. The forward and fleshed bullock trade has been quite strong and in some cases has increased slightly on last week.

Overall, mart managers have reported farmer activity for stores to be steady, but light plain stores in some parts of the south have encountered a little more price pressure as farmers strive to source quality. Exporter activity for weanlings remains very low, while calf exporters are starting to ramp up buying as calf numbers continue to increase quickly week on week. Despite larger numbers of calves on offer, trade has remained firm.
