Special heifer sales will be held throughout October offering heifers eligible for the female replacement target in the Suckler Carbon Efficiency Programme (SCEP).
The sales are being co-ordinated by the Irish Cattle Breeding Federation (ICBF) in collaboration with ICOS and the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
The move comes as 1,150 herds are currently on a trajectory to miss the 65% female replacement target on 31 October 2025.
ICBF explained the heifers will be sold in a special section within regular sales with sales organised to date listed in Table 1.
