Seminar on use of biomethane

The Irish BioEnergy Association is holding a morning seminar on the use of biomethane and compressed natural gas (CNG) at the RDS Hall 2, Dublin, next Thursday, 14 November from 9.30am to 1pm. The seminar will include a demonstration of commercial and private vehicles adapted to use Biomethane/CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) as a vehicle fuel. The event will include presentations from Bord Gáis, technology providers, a project leader of an EU-sponsored initiative in Italy and an experienced Irish fleet operator. In addition to direct use in vehicles of biomethane sourced from organic, renewable materials, information will be provided on the use of CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) in vehicles and the related area of grid injection of renewable gas.

While biogas has historically been targeted in Ireland for use in Combined Heat and Power (CHP), biomethane claims to provide a more efficient and diversified application. It has been successfully developed and used in Sweden, Germany, Italy and Austria in recent years.

The seminar will also include a demonstration of the largest collection of CNG/BioCNG powered vehicles ever assembled in Ireland. This will include an IVECO truck, VW Caddy, Volvo PM, Mercedes 4x4 and Sprinter. Filling Technology (Bauer pumps and devices) will also be displayed.

You can get more information about the event on http://irbea-biogas.eventbrite.ie and while admission is free for IrBEA members, it costs €25 for non-members.
