Camera at the Mart attended the weekly cattle sale in Enniskillen Mart on Thursday last, where an increased entry of livestock went under the hammer.

A big turnout of buyers led to sale rings being packed out, with sharp bidding across all classes of cattle coming forward.

This Charolais heifer, born April 2018 and weighing 445kg, sold for £995.

Short-keep store cattle were in high demand, with buyers most active on good-quality continental types and heavy fleshed Angus animals.

Lighter stores were a solid trade, with firm demand for strong weanlings, while fat cows and suckler outfits were an improved trade.

This Charolais heifer, born May 2018 and weighing 585kg, sold for £1,020.

Mart manager James Johnston commented on the sale, stating that buyers have become much more active on the back of improved beef prices.

Bullocks sold to a top price of £1,425 for a 786kg Charolais-bred animal, followed by £1,400 paid on two separate occasions for Charolais bullocks weighing just over 700kg.

Heavy fleshed Limousin bullocks sold to a top price of £1,320 for a 622kg animal, followed by £1,290 for a 646kg animal.

This Belgian Blue heifer, born May 2017 and weighing 670kg, sold fo £1,150.

Angus bullocks sold to £1,260 for a 660kg animal, with Simmental-bred animals selling to £1,300 for a bullock weighing 724kg.

Mid-weight bullocks sold from 205p to 256p/kg, with a 442kg Limousin making £1,135, while lightweight stores made 205p to 240p/kg, with a 360kg Charolais making £870.

Heifers sold to a top price of £1,285 on two occasions, firstly for a 590kg Charolais and then for a 650kg animal which was also Charolais-bred.

This Limousin heifer, born February 2019 and weighing 385kg, sold for £845.

Other standout prices saw £1,280 paid for a 640kg Charolais heifer, while a 610kg animal sold for £1,205. Angus heifers sold to £1,150 for a 590kg animal.

Mid-weight heifers weighing 400kg to 500kg sold well, with good-quality continental types making 189p to 244p/kg.

This Limousin bullock, born April 2018 and weighing 576kg, sold for £1,160.

Prices ranged from £920 rising to £1,100, with heifer below 400kg selling to £890 for a 365kg Charolais-bred animal.

This Simmental bullock, born November 2017 and weighing 724kg, sold for £1,300.

In the weanling ring, bullocks sold from £680 to £965 for a 380kg Charolais, with heifer calves selling from £550 to £800 for a 332kg Charolais-bred animal.

Fat cows sold from 120p to 172p/kg, with a 670kg Charolais animal making £1,,150 while Friesian cows sold from 70p to 123p/kg.
