Case IH is expanding its former four-model Magnum series with a new flagship model, the Magnum 400 AFS Connect.

Fitted with an 8.7 litre FPT Cursor 9, Stage V engine, the new daddy of the range has a max power output of 435hp. The 400, unlike its smaller counterparts, is only available with one transmission offering, a 21x5 PowerDrive powershift box.

The 400, 340 and 380 models can be specified with the rear Rowtrac track system. Rear lift capacity remains untouched with a capacity of 11,700kg and 4,090kg on the front, where fitted. Brake-assisted steering has been introduced for Rowtrac rear-tracked models in particular, aiding steering on the headland by applying the brake to the inside rear track or wheel when a steering movement is made.

AFS Connect

AFS Connect is based on the brand’s proven Advanced Farming Systems precision technology, with technology and connectivity being at the forefront of advancements in the updated Magnum series. Contained within the new cab is the redesigned Multicontroller armrest and a new display terminal with the new AFS Vison operating system.

There is a two-way link between the new AFS Pro 1200 display and AFS Connect portal available through mycaseih.com. Case IH believes the new Magnum recognises the importance of data in today’s farming practices, not just operating data such as machine location but information relating to machine performance combined with field data such as area worked and agronomic data.

All data can be recorded and transferred wirelessly in real time using AFS Connect telematics. This enables seamless communication between tractor owner, operator and, with the owner’s permission, third parties such as dealers and farm agronomists. Remote display viewing is also available. So, for instance, a dealer can monitor a tractor’s terminal remotely to resolve an issue out in the field.

Cab and styling

The new four-pillar AFS Connect cab has been built to more of an automotive standard, providing operators with an improved overall operating experience.

The New AFS Pro 1200 display and VIS2 smart screen vertical pillar display are clearer and more engaging than what we’ve seen before. The new Multicontroller offers increased customisation options, with the addition of configurable buttons on the joystick which can be pre-programmed to control various functions from radio volume to remote valves.

Other features such as heating and ventilation have been improved, while a key fob is now used for automatic door lock/unlock.

The new Magnums have adopted styling from the Case IH autonomous concept vehicle, particularly the front end. The new grille can be specified with LED headlights combined with the new 360° worklight package. Up to four cameras can be fitted and viewed on the AFS Pro display, two coming as standard on the luxury cab configuration. Further cab options available including tyre pressure monitoring sensors and hydraulic semi active.
