A total of 550 cattle were offered for sale at Markethill this week, with prices holding steady. The trade for bullocks was solid, with 240 cattle forward on the day.
Cattle sold to a top price of £1,480 for a 660kg Angus animal. Good-quality cattle sold from a general price range of £1,210 to £1,340 for forward animals weighing 580kg and heavier.
Mid-weight bullocks weighing 400kg to 500kg sold from £900 to £1,020. Friesian bullocks sold from £800 to £935 for well-fleshed cattle weighing 500kg to 650kg.

Heifers were also a steady trade and reached a top price of £1,170 for a 530kg Limousin. Good-quality forward heifers sold from £1,020 to £1,140. Lighter heifers weighing 400kg to 500kg sold from £860 to £1,025, depending on quality.
Weanlings sold from £800 to £960 for strong lots, with lighter animals generally selling from £680 to £800. Suckler cows sold to a top price of £2,020 for a Limousin cow with heifer calf.
