The new Claas telescopic loader sees the German firm continue its ongoing relationship with Liebherr. The loader is powered by a 73hp Yanmar four-cylinder engine. This powertrain meets Stage V exhaust emission requirements without the need of AdBlue. An optional reverse fan helps to keep the radiator clean by automatically reversing the direction of rotation. It can also be manually activated.

The 738T is fitted with a ground drive hydrostat and two-speed automatic gearbox. Two gear ranges can be selected with a rocker switch, with a ground speed of up to 20km/h in range one, and up to 40km/h in range two. Automatic gear shift is available in both gear ranges.

Through the Z-bar linkage, the headstock can rotate up to 172°.
