The consultation on the control of wild birds, including pigeons, will be extended until Friday 19 February.
Last year, there was major controversy when it looked as though the derogation to permit the shooting of pigeons would be rolled back on.
Many farmers voiced their concerns that much of their crops would be destroyed if the pigeon population in particular was allowed to grow unchecked.

Any proposal sent as part of the consultation must include relevant documentation and evidence.
Anyone wishing to make a submission can email WildBirdDeclarations@chg.gov.ie before Friday 19 February at 5pm.
Or they can post their submission to: Wildlife Licensing Unit, National Parks and Wildlife Service, Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, 90 North King Street, Dublin 7 D07 N7CV. Mark submissions: 'Wild Bird Declarations'.
