Met Éireann has issued a yellow wind warning for the entire country which is to last until 9pm on Friday night.

Initially, a wind warning was issued for counties Sligo and Donegal as southerly winds veering southwesterly are to reach speeds of 65km/h. Gust of up to 110km/h are expected, especially in coastal areas and on exposed hills.

As of 11am Friday, the warning has been extended to the rest of the country. Munster, Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Leitrim and Roscommon can expect strong southwesterly winds with gusts up to 100km/h.

Counties Galway and Mayo will experience slightly stronger winds similar to Donegal and Sligo.
