Average prices for all productshave been marginally increasing over the month.

Oceania butter prices remained at US $3,975/tonne. US butter prices increased for the first time since March by 0.5%, with good supply and healthy demand keeping prices stable. A lack of supply in the EU is continuing to put upward pressure on prices, which rose by 1.1% to $5,594/tonne.

A 2.1% in US SMP (skim milk powder) prices meant that average SMP prices increased in September. EU prices remain stable as trade continued to be limited at the start of the autumn.

Oceania WMP (whole milk powder) crept above the $5,000/tonne mark after three months of prices in the high $4,000/tonne region.

EU WMP prices also increased over the $5,000/tonne, a level not seen since October 2007. Due to the government shutdown in the US, WMP prices are not available.

Cheddar prices in both US and Oceania increased between August and September by $51/tonne (1.3%) and $25/tonne (0.6%), respectively. The premium which Oceania prices have over the US prices has dropped to below $500/tonne for the first time since March.
