Just like last month, the base price paid by Dairygold to its suppliers remains at 24.2c/litre excluding VAT.

Other co-ops have held their milk price for December, including Aurivo and Arrabawn in recent days.

LacPatrick was the only processor to add a 1c/litre or 1p/litre end-of-year bonus to its December price, but this is not expected to last into January.

Dairygold’s decision came as the GDT index of dairy commodity prices fell by 1.4% this Tuesday after a similar drop earlier this month.

In a sign of continuing difficulties on dairy markets, Irish processors offered skimmed milk powder for EU intervention at the beginning of this month, for the first time since October.
