Glanbia Ingredients Ireland will be imposing a penalty of 5c/l on farmers who are not certified under the Bord Bia Sustainable Dairy Assurance Scheme (SDAS). The penalty will apply to milk supplied from the start of September 2017.
“The board will review compliance at the end of 2017 and will consider any further steps required to ensure full compliance,” a spokesperson for Glanbia said. “Glanbia’s focus in the coming months will continue to be on working with and supporting remaining suppliers to ensure full compliance.”
Strathroy announced in April that it was imposing a 3c/l penalty on its non-compliant Republic of Ireland suppliers from June, rising to 5c/l in September.
