Dare To Dream, the new album from Bernie Heaney, will be launched at a gala night in the Hazel Hotel in Monasterevin next Thursday, 17 July. The Newbridge-based singer will be joined by a host of artists for the big occasion and plans are well advanced for the special launch.

“This journey is a dream come true for me,” says Bernie.

“Country music has always been close to my soul. I can’t recall a time when I was not surrounded by country music growing up.

“My dad had a great fondness for many of the great legends of American country, including people like Charley Pride, Hank Williams, Slim Whitman, Dolly Parton and so many more.

“It was a real pleasure recording this 12-track album in Granard under the guidance of Jonathan Owens.

“Thanks to everyone who has helped bring it to fruition and all the musicians for their excellent input. We are all looking forward to a great night in Monasterevin.”

Bernie’s version of 18 Wheels and A Dozen Roses, a song that was a huge hit stateside for Cathy Mattea, secured extensive airplay when released as a single last year. It was a song she took to her heart and made her own.

“Traditional country music is what I love best. That’s the kind I do at my gigs and what goes down best with audiences in this country,” states Bernie.

Meanwhile, the spotlight is on next Thursday night and the launch in the Hazel Hotel. Joining Bernie will be Louise Morrissey, The Davits Country Band, John Hogan, Tony Kerr, Aidan Quinn, Adrian O’Reilly (Garth Brooks tribute show), Lana Gibson Chuck Owens and June, and Eimear Furlong.

A band hand-picked by Jonathan Owens will provide the music for most of the artists. The compere is Liam Kitt from the K-Country show on Kildare Radio. Dancing is from 9pm until 1am. CL
