Prices for green diesel have now steadied, with farmers securing loads at 78c/l to 81c/l including VAT. Until recently, green diesel prices increased substantially on the back of higher oil prices. In early May, global oil prices reached $80/barrel. Today they are back at $73/barrel. Prices have been volatile because of swings in oil supply. It’s more difficult to predict future prices for a range of reasons, including political tensions in Middle Eastern countries, competition for market share among oil producers, currency fluctuations and uncertainty regarding global demand.
