This year’s Clonaslee show in Co. Laois was the host for the Irish Belgian Blue cattle society’s all-Ireland bull finals.

The show which took place early September was judged by well-known breeder Tim O’Donovan from Dunmanway in Co. Cork. After deliberating over the class for some time he eventually found his champion in the form of Patrick O’Brien’s bull Mill King. This October 2016-born bull is sired by Visconte De Saint Fontaine and his dam is Castletrench Delia ET, a Tullamore National Show Champion during her show career.

Patrick O’Brien’s brother, Sean, also capped off a good day standing reserve in the all-Ireland class with his September 2016-born bull King. This bulls is sired by Dovea AI Boherard Cantona.

Both brothers farm in Culdaff, Co. Donegal and will again be making a long journey to Tullamore at the end of October when both bulls sell at the society’s premier sale.
