Following last year's success at the same event, Jonathan and Lisa Doyle from Cookstown in Co Tyrone enjoyed another tremendous day out at the Northern Ireland Aberdeen Angus calf show at Dungannon Farmers Mart on Saturday.

In an emphatic display, their Drumhill herd claimed the overall yearling champion, reserve yearling champion, overall heifer champion, reserve bull calf champion and supreme calf champion of the show titles.

Almost 75 calves from 17 exhibitors competed, with UK judges David and Penny Evans having the difficult task of placing the cattle.

For their supreme champion, they went for the heifer champion Drumhill Evora B351 from the Doyle family.

Just over 10 months old, this young heifer is a daughter of Drumhill Prime Cut X155 and combines some of the most successful cow families ever to stand at Blelack, in the Princess Carolines, Evoras and the Lady Heathers.

For her victory, the classy Evora was awarded the JB Lamb Memorial Cup.

This was only the start of it for the Cookstown-based herd, as her comrade Drumhill Quick Buck A325 clinched the overall yearling championship before Drumhill Master Plan A277 was awarded the reserve yearling championship.

Quick Buck, a son of Drumhill Prime Cut, is an October 2024-born bull which goes back to Nightingale Queen Lois, while Master Plan is an August 2024-born son of Galcantray Jedi Eric V287 out of Schivas Morning Princess M083.

To cap off a truly majestic day for the Doyles, Drumhill Majestic Prince B384 won the reserve bull calf championship, an April 2025-born son of Galcantray Jedi Eric.

Pipping him to post and claiming the overall bull calf championship was Coolermoney Fletcher B495 from the Parke family. A son of Rawburn E-Type, this January 2025-born calf is out of HW Fleur S059.

Taking the reserve heifer calf championship was James Morrison with Hillmount Mayflower B145, a five-month-old heifer calf sired by Lisduff Bandjo Y020.

For the best pair of calves at the show, the Evans duo went for two red calves from John and Sandra Blackburn's Killaney herd.

Finally, the young handler classes were fiercely contested as always. Lewis Dodd stood top of the line in the juniors, with Harry Givan coming out on top in the senior category.
