My Heart and I - The Life and Loves of Josef Locke – 14-15 June: This two-man show at the Smock Alley Theatre, Dublin brings you the fellow artists, agents and marriage partners of working class hero Josef Locke, whose extraordinary voice soared over the wheeling and dealing of the showbiz world. His rollercoaster career is marked by the songs he made famous, Goodbye, Hear My Song and La Donna é Mobile to name but a few. We the Animals – 14 June: Manny, Joel and Jonah tear their way through childhood. Their mother and father have a volatile relationship that makes and unmakes the family many times over, often leaving the boys fending for themselves. As their parents rip at one another, Manny and Joel harden and grow into versions of their father. With the trio fractured, Jonah – who is the youngest – becomes increasingly aware of his desperate need to escape. Driven to the edge, Jonah embraces an imagined world all his own. Evening Train – 13-16 June: In west Cork Grace dreams of a new life far away, as she waits for Luther – he’s late, again. Elsewhere in town, bartender Frank surrenders yet another paycheck to cover his reckless brother’s gambling debts, while Luther promises Grace that by Christmas he’ll have made enough money to get them out of there. Before long, a high-stakes game is underway, in which everyone is a player, whether they like it or not. Foil, Arms & Hog - Craicling – 20 June: Foil, Arms & Hog, the Irish sketch comedy group comprising of Sean Finegan, Sean Flanagan and Conor McKenna return to Vicar St with their new show. Craicling is a fast-paced sketch show featuring a class on how to hold a baby, a Gregorian chant about life as a monk and the assassination of a classically trained actor. Chance McCoy – 16 June: Chance McCoy is a Grammy-winning indie folk musician from West Virginia. After receiving a grant to study with old master musicians from the Appalachian Mountains, he went on to win the fiddle, banjo and dulcimer championships in his home state. In 2012, Chance was living in a run-down cabin when a call from Old Crow Medicine Show landed him an invite to join the legendary Americana band of Wagon Wheel fame. His first album with Old Crow, where he debuted his talents as song writer, singer and instrumentalist, earned the band a Grammy for best folk album.
