The European Landowners’ Organisation is seeking entries for the Land and Soil Management Awards for farmers, landowners, land managers and groups of farmers.

The prize rewards land use and soil management practices mitigating soil threats such as soil degradation, erosion, reduction of organic matter content, diffuse contamination and compaction, as well as the reduction of soil biodiversity, salinisation, sealing, flooding and landslides.

The organisers say in doing so, the award sheds light on outstanding achievements, encouraging new concepts of land and soil protection and their implementation in land management, as well as enhancing awareness about the importance of land and soil functions. There is a €5,000 fund for the winning project. The jury can also award a diploma of recognition.

The organisers hope to enhance the visibility of such ways of farming at the local and national, as well as European, scale and to encourage the farmers to further develop their work in a sustainable path by holding this competition. To apply, applicants should download the application form from www.europeanlandowners.org.

The deadline is 31 December 2018. The award will be granted during the Forum for the Future of Agriculture (FFA) gala dinner.
