I see once again that farmers are well-represented in the Irish rugby squad for their Six Nations opener against France on Saturday.

Even without stalwart Sean O'Brien, there are no fewer than five players from a farm in the match day 23. These are Rory Best (beef and tillage farm), Tadhg Furlong (dairy), CJ Stander (dairy and poultry), Rob Kearney (tillage) and John Ryan (dairy).

Not bad for a sport which many considered to be dominated by the prawn sandwich-eating, champagne-guzzling D4 brigade.
