Two interesting holdings of land are for sale at Rhode in Co Offaly.

One is 30.6ac on the edge of the village, the other 53ac at Croghan, Rhode. They are both for sale from James L Murtagh Auctioneers and go for auction – separately – in the coming weeks.

The 30.6ac holding, lying on the R400 and L1010, is laid out in two divisions. It is described as highly productive, free-draining, elevated land suited to any farming enterprise.

However, it is located beside the village and, according to the auctioneers, has “obvious development potential” if planning is granted.

The holding will be offered in four lots:

  • Lot 1 will be 18.6ac
  • Lot 2 will be 6ac
  • Lot 3 will be 4ac
  • Lot 4 will be 2ac
  • Local utility services run up to the edge of Lot 1. Lot 4 is zoned for Enterprise and Employment development in the current Offaly County Council Development Plan.

The guide price for this holding is excess of €15,000/ac. This is an executor’s sale.

The property will be auctioned in the Greville Arms Hotel, Mullingar, on Friday 17 June at 3pm, running also on the LSL platform.

    Former dairy farm

The second holding, at Croghan, consists of 45ac of good grassland and 8ac of forestry, with a farmyard.

This land was run as a dairy farm by the vendor. It is all in one block and the grassland is divided into paddocks and has no waste.

The farmyard has dry bedded cattle sheds, slatted accommodation and cattle handling facilities.

The guide price for this holding is in the region of €425,000.

This property will be auctioned in the Greville Arms Hotel, Mullingar on Friday 1 July at 3pm, running also on the LSL platform.
