A re-styling is also planned when the new Berlingo goes on sale in Ireland from 1 July this year.

The Berlingo range provides a choice of factory built models in its class, including the L1 and L2 vans and the 5 seat crew cab Berlingo. Prices start from €16,215, including VAT.

This new Berlingo is the first Citroën LCV range to be powered by Euro 6 compliant BlueHDi diesel engines, which use Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology. Citroën will be extending the application of these low-emissions, more fuel-efficient BlueHDi engines across its entire LCV line-up from July 2015 and through to September 2016.

Citroën is meeting tough Euro 6 requirements for NOx emission reductions with the application of its SCR technology.

BlueHDi powered new Berlingo models have a three-stage SCR process to treat emissions caused by combustion:

- Stage 1: an oxidisation catalyst converts the unburned hydrocarbons (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO) in the exhaust into water and carbon dioxide (CO2)

- Stage 2: the SCR module then adds AdBlue to convert nitrogen oxide (NOx) into nitrogen (N) and water

- Stage 3: a particulate filter then eliminates 99.9% of particles in the vehicle’s exhaust emissions

BlueHDi powered Berlingo vans have a 17 litre AdBlue tank, which will last for up to 22,000km (14,000 miles), depending on the way that the van is driven. AdBlue is now widely available from various outlets, including Citroën dealers.

This latest Berlingo van range will go on sale in July with a choice of Euro 5 HDi 75 and HDi 90 engines, complemented by the more powerful Euro 6 BlueHDi 100. The HDi 75 and HDi 90 engines will be available with 5-speed manual transmissions, while the BlueHDi engines will, dependent on model, be available with Stop & Start and Citroën’s ETG6 automated manual transmission.

The current specification Euro 5 HDi 75 and HDi 90 engines will be available in the new Berlingo vans until May 2016. Then the HDi 75 will be replaced by a new, Euro 6 compliant BlueHDi 75 engine.

In addition to the introduction of BlueHDi engines, New Berlingo models will gain the specification upgrades for the new Berlingo include a redesigned grille and front bumper and an optional Look Pack, featuring LED daytime-running lights.

Internally, both New Berlingo LX and Enterprise trim levels gain cruise control and a programmable speed limiter. The top-of-the-range Berlingo Enterprise models also gain an upgraded DAB audio system, incorporating a 7-inch touchscreen with mirror screen technology and an alarm for increased security.
