The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has placed five agri food businesses on the national priority sites for enforcement list. The list details industrial and waste companies which are failing to meet the necessary environmental standards.

The agri food companies included are;

  • Arrow Group, Kildare
  • Rosderra Irish Meats Group, Offaly.
  • Western Brand Group Ltd, Mayo.
  • Glanbia Foods Ireland Ltd, Laois.
  • LacPatrick Dairies Ltd, Monaghan.
  • Sites are placed on the list based on compliance data such as complaints, incidents and non-compliances over the previous six months.

    In total, nine sites have been placed on the latest list compiled from April to September of this year. These sites accounted for 43% of complaints received in the period. Companies on the list will face further enforcement action from the EPA to ensure they secure compliance.

    The main issues for the agri food sites were odour and noise nuisance and failing to properly manage wastewater discharges. Three of the sites are involved in the waste management sector, where the main compliance issues were poor management practices on site and odour nuisance.

    The national priority sites for enforcement system was introduced by the EPA in July 2017 to increase environmental compliance at industrial and waste facilities.
