Irish Bredal Importers Atkins Machinery of Cork will be showing the new F series and Bredal K series machines at the FTMTA Farm Machinery Show. Both machine types can now be equipped with hydraulic drive to the spread discs.
This new drive system consists of a high-horsepower piston motor on each disc, controlled via two proportional valves. It is designed to allow precision control of disc speeds, and also allows the headland to be spread on either side of the machine, while also simultaneously allowing a different drop point on either disc at one time once headland mode is selected on the Isobus terminal. This allows infinite control over the spread pattern on all widths up to 36m. Bredal claims no matter what type of fertiliser is being spread the pattern can be fine-tuned to suit the operator’s requirements.
This capability is also available with in-field spreading where the system automatically adjusts the drop point in the spread disc as the flow increases with an increase in forward speed.

Bredal claims that with inward-turning spread discs and automatically adjustable drop points, the New Bredal F series can achieve lower spread pattern CV values than anything ever seen on a trailed fertiliser spreader. The hydraulic system will also allow the operator run the tractor at lower engine speeds.
With the new Bredal Isobus software and three-way distribution valve, there is no speed variation when the load increases on the discs or when the tractor decelerates or accelerates. This is claimed to be a unique feature to Bredal, giving constant smooth disc speeds.
Atkins will also be showing the new Bredal Isobus controlled dynamic weigh cells. These cells are now available on all Bredal models from the K45 up to the K135. The system allows for automatic Isobus calibration of the application rate while on the move in the field. The software monitors the flow rate and makes calculations based on the target rate and sets the amount of fertiliser going out.
