Taste of Roscrea

The Christmas Market in the complex of Roscrea Castle is in full swing this weekend. The Taste of Roscrea market will feature artisan foods and gift ideas. Exhibitors include Mulrooney’s Gala, with their prize-winning cakes and bakes, Wild Irish Millhouse Farm and Brew Crew coffee.

Running from the 5-8 December, Friday there will be a buffet by chef John Ireland, followed by entertainment and dancing in the White House, in aid of the hospice.

Carlow Fair

In the historic surroundings of Duckett’s Grove House and Estate, the annual Christmas fair promises to be a winter wonderland. On Sunday, 8 December, there will be a craft and food market with over 60 stands.

Get set with an extensive range of Christmas breads, cakes, puddings, mince pies, seasonal fruit tarts, jams, chutneys, apple juice and hampers. For some festive cheer, try a mulled apple juice, mulled wine and some hot mince pies. Admission is €7 per car with free car parking from 12-5pm.

Neven Christmas Special

Neven Maguire creates a festive feast on the Christmas Special of Home Chef.

On Monday, 9 December, at 8.30pm on RTÉ 1, Neven will use traditional ingredients and a novel approach for his Christmas menu.

With turkey marinated in buttermilk, glazed ham with pineapple salsa and oatmeal biscuits, as well as chocolate sensation, Neven’s recipes are ideal for entertaining over the holidays.
