The International Grains Council (IGC) have predicted a fall of 2% on the previous year in the total grains produced in 2018/19.

The IGC’s forecast was detailed in its latest Grain Market Report published last week which predicts the total world grain production in 2018/19 to be 2,087.4 million tonnes which is a decline on the forecast for 2017/18 which is for 2,092.1 million tonnes to be produced worldwide.

Wheat accounts for the biggest expected decline in production while maize is expected to increase significantly which will help to offset this.
