Waterford dairy farmer and former chair of Glanbia Liam Herlihy has been on the board of FBD since 2015. At the AGM, he was elected as the chair, replacing Michael Berkery.
The AGM of FBD Holdings plc took place on Friday. Outgoing chair Michael Berkery told shareholders that the insurance firm is continuing to improve profitability.
Berkery retired from the FBD board having served almost 30 years as a director of the company. For 20 of those years, he has served as chair.

Herlihy was, during the seven years to May of 2015, group chairman of Glanbia plc, a period marked by strucutural change and strong growth for that company.
He completed the Institute of Directors Development Programme and holds a certificate of merit in Corporate Governance from University College Dublin. "He brings to the role a wealth of commercial experience and some deep insights into the farming and general agricultural industries in Ireland which, together, comprise the group's core customer base," FBD said in a statement.
