Hoggets were met with brisk buying demand on Monday at Kilrea Mart as factory agents remain eager for numbers.

Prices peaked at £110 for a pen of 24.5kg animals. The top price was matched by a pen of 26.5kg hoggets.

This was followed by £109 paid on a pen of 27kg hoggets, with 25kg lots making £107.50, while £102.50 was paid on a pen of 23.5kg hoggets.

Lighter and plainer sheep weighing 22.5kg to 23.5kg sold from £95.20 back to £93, with 21kg lots making £88.80.

Cull ewes sold to a top price of £95.50.

Tuesday sale

On Tuesday, calved Holstein heifers sold to a top price of £1,800, followed by £1,610. Drop calves sold to £370 for a Charolais bull, with Blue bull calves selling to £335.

Angus bull calves sold to £320, with Hereford bulls selling to £250. Fleckvieh calves sold to £255 with Friesian calves selling to £165.
