The AGCO Ideal combine harvester, which can either be branded as Fendt or Massey Ferguson, was recently awarded the prize of Red Dot Best of the Best in the commercial vehicles category of Red Dot Design Award, Product Design 2018. The award was presented to AGCO at a ceremony held at Essen’s Aalto Theatre in Germany.

A total of over 6,300 products from 59 countries were entered into this year’s Red Dot competition. All entries were evaluated individually by an international panel of 39 independent design industry professionals. In all, only 1.1% of entries were credited with the highest distinction in the competition, the Red Dot Best of the Best seal of quality.

As one of the Best of the Best, the Ideal combine harvester joins other 2018 winners in this elite group including the Ferrari Portofino and the McLaren 720S sports cars.

“With its sophisticated design, this high-performance combine harvester is ground-breaking and optimally geared to future requirements,” stated the jury.

Commending the machine for its elegant design, highly developed cab ergonomics and excellent all-round visibility, the judges said: “The Ideal combine is extremely comfortable in use; efficient and very powerful.”

The Ideal combine is the result of over five years of development from AGCO. The machine turned heads at its launch in Agritechnica last November. The combine range includes three models from 451hp to 647hp.
