Over 500 sheep were offered for sale in Raphoe Livestock Mart on Monday 8 February, with a strong trade throughout.

Hoggets weighing from 46kg to 55kg traded from €130 to €146, while those weighing 40kg to 45kg typically moved from €120 to €130.

Lighter types from 35kg to 40kg were making €105 to €120 for the most part.

Dry ewes ranged from €80 to €186, but averaged around the €115 mark.

There was big interest in ewes with lambs at foot. Most of the those offered were third- and fourth-crop ewes with strong lambs at foot.

Ewes with a single lamb at foot traded between €160 and €180, while a small number of ewes with twin lambs at foot were making from €260 to €280.

A small entry of in-lamb ewes, scanned carrying twins, made around the €160 mark.
