Hennessy Auctioneers resumed its monthly machinery auction last Saturday 20 February. A strong trade was observed, with a clearance rate of 88% of the 371 lots booked.

Interest remained very strong, with a total of 531 bidders registered for the sale at the old mart in Portlaoise. The auction contained a large assortment of farm machinery large and small, as well as tractors.

Some of the stand-out lots included a 1991 Case IH 995 fitted with a Quicke 520 front loader which sold for €9,450; a Hitachi EX 75 digger which sold for €16,250 including VAT; a 3,000-gallon Redrock slurry tanker which sold for €8,000 including VAT; and an Amazone 3m one-pass system which sold for €5,050 including VAT.

All prices had no VAT unless otherwise stated. Commission was charged at a rate of 5% plus VAT (21%) on all lots, with a maximum fee of €1,000 plus VAT.

Hennessy has its next machinery auction scheduled for Saturday 20 March, which will be held entirely online again due to the ongoing restrictions.
