The National Ploughing Association (NPA) Innovation Arena is the perfect place to launch new innovations, and this year, Irish Farmers Journal readers can vote for their favourite innovation in the People’s Choice category.

The NPA Innovation Arena puts inventions from Ireland on show to the world and helps establish their success by introducing them to the marketplace and facilitating networking that will help them take steps towards achieving commercial success.

In the build-up to this year’s Ploughing Championships, each day we will profile four of the innovators that will have products on display.

Prodig Attachments

The forklift bag filler is an all-in-one unit used to load material (seed, ration, fertiliser, etc.) into a hopper, weigh the material and fill it into a bulk bag ready for sale or distribution. This is all carried out from a single unit mounted on the front of a standard forklift.

This unit dramatically speeds up the operation of filling bulk bags. It allows smaller businesses to supply customers in bulk bag format without the need for a bagging plant or weighbridge.

QualEpass

QualEpass (Qualifications Electonic Pass) is used for real-time management and checking of credentials, certificates, training records and inspections of both service providers/contractors and equipment.

The farmer is able to check the contractor’s certificates and credentials on his/her mobile phone.

The QualEpass system saves time and ensures that the farmer and contractors stay compliant with regulations.

Remote Signals Limited

The Farm Gate/Shed Alert Alarm System is a simple sensor device that can be quickly attached to any gate or shed door on a farm and when an event occurs, the farmer will get a message through his/her phone to alert him/her of an event in the area being monitored.

Also, the flexibility of the battery powered device allows the farmer to move the device easily from one location to another.

Robotic Drive Services

The Robotic Automation Cell will show how robotics and automation can increase productivity at nearly every step of the agricultural cycle.

All services, manufacturers and industries in and out of the agriculture cycle will benefit from automation.

Voting

The competition takes place over the three days of the National Ploughing Championships from 19 to 21 September and the winner will be announced on the final day.
