The National Ploughing Association Innovation Arena is the perfect place to launch new innovations, and this year Irish Farmers Journal readers can vote for their favourite innovation in the People’s Choice category.

The NPA Innovation Arena puts inventions from Ireland on show to the world and helps establish their success by introducing them to the marketplace and facilitating networking that will help them take steps towards achieving commercial success.

In the build-up to this year’s Ploughing championships, each day we will profile four of the innovators that will have products on display.

Meal riser

The meal riser is designed to push meal up from the bottom of a JFC round meal bin to allow the farmer easy access to the feed.

The meal riser is an automatic mechanism that can be inserted into the bin in under five minutes, without having to drill or damage the bin in any way.

Moocall Ltd.

Moocall Heat Detection is a heat detection system which uses an innovative collar fitted to a bull’s neck in conjunction with specially designed ear tags to alert farmers to when a cow is in heat, from anywhere in the world.

The heat detection system uses the best detection there is; nature itself.

By monitoring the bull it can pick up heat activity quicker than visual observation.

OneClick Accounts

OneClick Accounts allows businesses to use a simple app to log jobs.

With a few taps a business owner can log his/her work and then view all their jobs immediately on a cloud server on his/her lapto. Invoicing takes just another few clicks.

Opti-Drone

Opti-Drone is the latest management tool for tillage and forestry in Ireland.

The drone is equipped with multiple sensors which scan for plant health, weed pressure and absolute N.

It can produce results in one to three days in a variable rate application (VRA) map which can be uploaded onto the John Deere GPS system.

VRA mapping gives an accurate picture of your entire farm/crops, reducing costs and optimising revenue.

Voting

The competition takes place over the three days of the National Ploughing Championships from 19 to 21 September and the winner will be announced on the final day.
