There are 7,937t of SMP in public intervention, figures from the EU’s Milk Market Observatory show. However, no product has been put into the measure in the last three weeks.

Lithuania has been the leading contributor to the scheme, since first volume was offered into the measure 11 weeks ago, offering almost 3,500t, while the Netherlands is the second largest contributor.

Meanwhile, upward pressure on the market resulted in many co-ops increasing their milk price for May. The boards of Glanbia, Lakeland, Carbery and Kerry all met during the week.
