Irish Atlantic Seafood is the first Irish company to win the Prix d’Elite Award
The Irish Atlantic Seafood Company (IASC) has become the first Irish company to receive the Prix d’Elite award from the Global Seafood Expo in Brussels, the world’s largest seafood event.
Receiving the Prix d’Elite award at the Global Seafood Expo on behalf of the Irish Atlantic Seafood Company are Colin Ross and James Grimes, with Tara McCarthy of Bord Bia, far right and Amb MacAodha, the Irish ambassador to Belgium.

The award winning product, selling under the ‘Something Fishy’ brand, combines shellfish protein with Irish butter, seaweed and seasoning to produce an ‘umami’ or savoury taste.
IASC, a member of Love Irish Food, has applied for a patent on the process of producing the butter and are the only company to produce the product globally. This product was also recognised at the World Food Innovation Awards, held in London in March, when the shellfish butter won the award for best new condiment.
The Seafood Prix d’Elite new product awards competition recognizes the best seafood products of the year and takes place at the Seafood Expo Global, which is the world’s largest seafood trade event. More than 25,000 buyers, suppliers, media and other seafood professionals from 150 countries visit the exposition.

IASC are planning to expand their current distribution from Ireland and the UK this year into the USA, Europe and Asia. It is also in the process of filling its first order for Malaysia.
The company will also launch a further 20 products over the next 3 to 5 years, in Retail, Food Service and B2B channels.
