Met Éireann is forecasting wet and windy weather, as heavy rain spreads eastwards to all parts of the country during the morning. Westerly winds will become strong and gusty later in the afternoon. Highs of 14°C or 15°C are forecast.

  • Brazilian-owned food company Pilgrim’s Pride has acquired NI poultry processor Moy Park for £1bn (€1.1bn or $1.3bn).
  • The beef trade is unchanged on last week, with factories anxious to maintain throughput.
  • Weather will remain very unsettled up to and including Thursday, but early indications are that it will improve by next weekend.
  • Henry Judge is a beef farmer who has not used a calving jack in 20 years and gets €5.50/kg from the factory. He is also the owner of Ella, the world’s smallest cow.
