Met Éireann is forecasting a rather cloudy day in southern coastal counties with rain gradually petering out. It will get brighter elsewhere and mostly dry with sunny breaks. There will be some scattered showers in northern areas and breezy or windy here at times also. It will be cool tonight with some showers over northwestern areas early on, but mostly dry. Lowest temperatures will range from 2°C to 5°C, with mist thickening into fog in places and a slight frost.

All three banks have now confirmed their low-cost loan funds have been exhausted. The McInerney brothers have pleaded guilty to taking a jeep illegally and possessing stolen property in Portlaoise, signalling a breakthrough in a major rural crime case in the region, and one Co Waterford farmer is facing a bill of more than €830,000 from the Revenue Commissioners for underdeclaration of Capital Gains Tax.
