Irish Farmers Journal breakfast news: Tuesday 27 October
Good morning. In the news today: reaction to the WHO report on processed meat and cancer, Minister Heather Humphreys to attend an IFA poultry meeting, and sales reports from around the country.
A WHO report says eating processed meat can increase the risk of colon cancer by 18%.

Weather forecast:
There will be further spells of rain today, after the weather warning yesterday, and this rain will be heavy and persistent in eastern and central parts. It will clear the southwest and west during the morning and the day will brighten there with just the occasional shower this afternoon. Highest temperatures of 12°C to 14°C with moderate southeasterly winds.

According to Met Éireann's farming forecast, rainfall in the past seven days was below normal for much of the country, with 60% to 80% of normal rainfall amounts recorded. However, Ulster was wetter than average with 125% of typical rainfall amount there. The coming week will see average rainfall amounts with some coastal counties likely to receive higher than normal rainfall. Drying and spraying conditions will be mostly poor due to the mostly unsettled weather.
