• Unfortunately, a man in his 80s has died in Co Offaly following an accident involving a quad. This is the fifth death on Irish farms this year.
  • More farmers continue to leave the much maligned Knowledge Transfer Programme. Another batch have decided that it is not for them this week.
  • According to the Department of Agriculture, some 4,105 farmers have applied for a nitrates derogation ahead of next week’s deadline.
  • Cow cullings in the EU have continued to grow according to new statistics.
  • And finally, a €1,000 reward is being offered for the recovery of 45 ewes in Co Kerry. The in-lamb Scotch ewes went missing from a hill commonage on Mount Brandon.
