Irish Water will be submitting a Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) for the acquisition of lands and wayleaves needed for the construction of a new pipeline from Dungarvan, two new storage reservoirs and associated works.

The pipeline falls under a new water supply scheme for the Ring Helvick area of Co. Waterford.

The land of four farmers in the Dungarvan – An Rinn areas of Waterford will fall under the CPO process. All of their land is used for agricultural purposes according to the CPO document. Commenting on the project, Irish Water’s Regional Infrastructure Lead, Lisa Cogan said: “We are pleased to be progressing this essential project to ensure a safe and reliable supply of drinking water to the people of the Ring Helvick area.

“This scheme has been designed to ensure that the infrastructure has sufficient capacity to meet long-term demands and that there is sufficient storage within the water supply network.”

Landowners and occupiers included in the CPO will receive individual written notices and there will be a period of public display and consideration.

The procurement process for the selection of a contractor will then proceed in parallel with the CPO process.
