Last week, the Irish Farmers Journal’s long-standing snapper Jack Caffrey took his last photo as head of the photography department.
Many of you would have seen Jack taking photos for the Irish Farmers Journal over the best part of 20 years.
Jack took over from his father John as photo editor when John retired. Prior to that, Jack had been snapping the highroads and byroads of Irish farmland for almost two decades.

As he would say himself, he didn’t know one end of a bullock from the other but “farmers are the story”.
A true master of his art, a little birdie tells me that he might be seen in an Irish Farmers Journal jacket yet.
